The Luna is Make’s second residential tower in Hong Kong, and the first Hong Kong scheme to complete for client Vanke. Originally invited to a competition to design the interiors and facade for an existing building, we put forward a second proposal that answered the original brief as well as changed the shape of the building from rectangular to square – a move which ultimately won us the job.
The 32-storey tower, located on Lun Fat Street in the bustling commercial district of Wan Chai, sits on a triple-height podium set in a newly landscaped public garden. Both tower and podium are clad in champagne-gold powder-coated aluminium rainscreen panels, with balconies covering the north and west elevations. The balconies’ square shape and perforated motif reference the area’s history of printing, echoing traditional printing blocks.
The Luna houses 100 serviced apartments, four larger two-bed apartments and a luxury penthouse. Amenities include a roof garden, as well as restaurants, retail space and a public garden terrace in the podium. The apartments enjoy views to the mountain and the sea, and a balcony each – some even have two. Inside, the ‘contemporary classic English’ interiors feature dark timber joinery and a cool neutral palette, and have been finished with a high level of detail.

This sleek metallic tower stands out from surrounding buildings, and is set to transform the skyline in an area that’s already becoming a trendy neighbourhood for locals and expats.
