Architects, modelmakers, IT professionals – whatever the role, we’re looking for the best. At Make that means talent, curiosity, diverse perspectives, big ideas and enthusiasm. But our path to excellence relies on collaboration, not competition, and the Make studios are dynamic, friendly spaces where everyone has a voice.
We believe that great architecture demands diversity – of background, education, ideas and experience. We always aim to recruit the best person for the job, basing our decisions on a candidate’s abilities and the respective job requirements. We also seek to reflect the diversity of the societies around us.
Make has a long history of supporting work experience and mentoring schemes like the Blueprint for All (formerly Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust) and Fluid Diversity mentoring programmes, and the Construction Youth Trust work experience scheme. In 2020 we joined the Be More Inclusive programme for Part I recruitment and will work with them across all recruitment in the future.
We’re energised by the social justice movement and will continue exploring ways we can inspire and enable people from under-represented groups to pursue a career in architecture.
We offer a fantastic range of benefits, such as:
- Annual profit share
- Non-contributory pension scheme
- Private health insurance
- Employee assistance programme
- Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
- Enhanced shared parental leave
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Flexible working
- Up to six months’ unpaid sabbatical
Socialising is a big part of life at Make. And we don’t just mean watercooler chats or trips to the pub (though we do that, too). We have a dedicated social team that organises an endless roster of diverse activities, from escape rooms and art exhibitions to white-water rafting and monthly breakfasts, as well as elaborate summer and Christmas parties. Sport is also on the agenda, with weekly squash matches, summertime softball, tag rugby and football friendlies.
Friday Live is another important fixture in our culture. Every Friday at 5pm, each studio gathers over refreshments for project and business updates or talks from inspirational speakers. Three times a year, we hold a Friday Live International with all three studios to connect and share news with our colleagues around the world.
