Transparency is an integral part of our culture as an employee-owned practice, and we see this reflected in the principles of B Corp. Going forward, we intend to continue leading by example, upholding the highest standards as individual designers and as a global company, helping our industry rise to the challenge of the climate crisis and find creative solutions to complex problems.
We’ve come a long way since 2004: we’ve opened international studios, become carbon neutral as a practice, and delivered a range of award-winning buildings designed to serve both people and planet. The B Corp certification process has helped us deepen our understanding of how and where we can do more to use our business as a force for good. As we approach our twentieth anniversary, we’re excited for the next chapter in Make’s story.
Make founder and director Ken Shuttleworth said: “Becoming a B Corp is a huge milestone for Make, demonstrating our values and tangibly measuring our impact. The certification process has been an opportunity for us to reflect on how we’ve progressed as a practice, and we’re excited to continue learning and improving.”
We achieved a score of 133.8, making us one of the top scoring architecture practices in the UK, with our highest scores in the Governance and Workers categories. See a full breakdown of our score here.
