Situated above Wynyard Station, the 134m, 27-storey tower will make a confident statement on the Sydney skyline. It has been renamed Brookfield Place Sydney to celebrate the culmination of what will be almost a decade’s worth of work and investment by the developer to transform the precinct into a new gateway for Sydney’s CBD. Brookfield uses the ‘Brookfield Place’ moniker for its global assets that meet best-in-class criteria. Brookfield Place Sydney will now join just five other ‘Brookfield Place’ developments in various locations spanning the Middle East, North America and Canada.

Located above the busy transport interchange, the tower will house outstanding commercial and retail accommodation as well as cafés and restaurants, including a rooftop restaurant around the clock tower of the listed Shell House.

Simon Lincoln, Asia Pacific Director at Make Architects, said: “Brookfield Place Sydney has laid the foundation for Make in Australia after winning their Design Excellence Competition. It is an important part of our practice’s history and a superb scheme which takes a constrained CBD site and stitches it back into the city’s existing fabric and infrastructure, providing a sustainable building for the future. It provides a mix of accommodation and new pedestrian connections, and re-establishes Carrington Street as a prime office destination. Ultimately, the scheme gives back to the city by creating a new civic front door for Wynyard Station with new connections from George Street to Carrington Street and Wynyard Park beyond. This milestone simply whets the appetite for completion next year.”
