Ken Shuttleworth receives FX Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award

Last night our founder, Ken Shuttleworth, received the Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 FX Awards, as voted for by FX readers.

Ken commented: “What a great honour to receive this award. I certainly don’t feel old enough to get a lifetime achievement award, but I’ve been in design for over 40 years now, and I’m hugely proud of the projects I’ve been a part of and especially proud of what Make has achieved over the last 13 or so years – but the best is yet to come!

“Architects are problem-solvers – it’s about using design to solve a bigger issue. That’s how we add value and how we evolve with the world around us. It’s great to feel that this has been recognised. Thanks to all our clients, consultants and friends, to Foster + Partners, but most importantly to our fantastic team here at Make.”

Emily Martin, assistant editor, FX said: “It was a great thrill to see such a worthy recipient receive this year’s Outstanding Lifetime Contribution to Design accolade at this year’s FX Awards. Since founding Make in 2003 FX has had the privilege to know Ken Shuttleworth and witness his incredible design talent, and extensive industry experience, create an exceptional practice which delivers some of the best projects as featured in FX today.

“And while this remains the view of FX, it’s a great joy to see this view is also shared by our readership who voted Ken to receive this award at our annual black tie event in London. Many congratulations to Ken!“

Also present at the awards last night was the team behind our Hans Crescent Grand Entrance Hall at Harrods, which was shortlisted for the Best Public Space Award. This is the third project Make has completed for Harrods, the scheme was also shortlisted at the international INSIDE awards, held in Berlin this autumn and was a worthy winner at this year’s Blueprint Awards
